10 Answers: What is the meaning of Life?
What is the meaning of Life?
Answer 1: I don’t know. If you ask me today, I genuinely don’t know.
Answer 2: I think it is just an experience - just to go through it. But then can also mean just have lots of sex, see lot of movies, do what ever you like. But then that will depend upon what experiences do you value. (Do I just value the appreciation from others or do I really love movies. That appreciation from others is also an experience, where for moments you feel like you achieved something, you get some kind of soft upperhand over the others and peers around you.)
Answer 3: It is meaningless. It is like any other matter on this earth. Do you take a stone and ask - what is the meaning of this stone? It is the damn same thing with life.
Answer 4: What not is life? I don’t think you have to create something that will remain ageless, savored even after your death - is a way to define meaning for your life. You are meant to be dead. You are meant to be forgotten. You are meant to disappear forever. That is your essence. But then why do you exist in the first place? Oh may be this is the way to go - just slowly keep removing what you understand what NOT is life.
But then why do you exist in the first place?
So it is about that small time space function between the moment you are born in womb to you last breath. But what about that? There are two ways to go about it:
Approach 1: Whatever state of experience you are right now, try to get the next level of experience. If you are starving, get a meal every day. Next Level: Get 3 meals a day. Next Level: Get variety meals every day.
Approach 2: You just decide to experience and enjoy whatever level of experience you are in. (Oh uh, but this is difficult for human beings right - they always loose that novelty and beauty of experiences they already have in short time.)
So then you go for new experiences every day. But from material terms, in food or travel or people, this opportunity is limited. So go to the ideas and imagination. Go where others can’t. Experience immensely new things everyday.
So you are here to think?
Yes, to think about the meaning of life and reach this exact point. The introspection you made for last some moments where exciting, right? It is not about answers. It is about these kind of thought journeys you make.
Answer 5: Meaning of life is love. Find people to care for. Make each other happy. Create small moments. Go for tea with your best friends. Try to find your girl-friend/partner. Try knowing her really close. There you have it - small joy of human life. Scribble down some thoughts if something happens. Call your friends and catch up every now and then. You desire to be valued, respected and accepted. Give that. Whatever you desire to get - GIVE. Treat your friends like they are gems and best. Treat your people around with kindness. Be very slow in judgements - give all of them benefit of doubt for the good reasons. Try to justify their whys. You don’t know what the other person has gone through. But you can think about this phenomenon (thinking outside yourself) and be happy about that. GIVE. Life is about giving. You should just be source of whatever people desire from you. Don’t expect anything back. The moment you make it GIVE so that to GET, it becomes an equation. Give = Get. Despair from Expectation = Give - Get. No. Keep it as a one side source. Just give. Whenever you get, think that it is just the other person’s kindness.
Answer 6: Survive. There is no morality. Just make sure you exist for longest time on this planet. Because there is no more ‘you’ once dead probably. So, just preserve the ‘you’.
Answer 7: Balance - balance the empathy and selfishness. Balance the selfishness (then people will call it self love - yes actually you want that selfishness in small amount). With other half, care for others. Try to respect other’s selfishness. Don’t violate them, keep always in mind. Your life is just a constant struggle to keep this balance. It will keep on tilting to one side, and the moment it does that you will be disturbed.
Answer 8: Grow the race. You are here to play your part in the development of the species as human race. Invent. Cure cancer. Make life easier. Solve the problems. There are infinite amount of problems which you will never be able to always solve for. Take one at a time and solve. Die amidst the process, you have done what you are supposed to do for the race.
Answer 9: Experience yourself. In all the answers above, you cannot negate one thing. Emotions are always switched on. You are experiencing your feelings. You are interacting with something else. You are feeling the excitement of learning, anxiety/fear of balancing, thrill of surviving, desire to grow, content of loving, happiness of giving (happiness of being a source that gives), stimulus of thoughts when introspecting. Experience the wide range of things going on within you - all of those emotions - don’t let any stone unturned. Experience yourself to the fullest.
Answer 10: Have tea. Make strong tea. Find the finest leaves. Crush them to the finest. Boil and mix with the finest skimmed milk. Filter it out. Pour into a small clay glass. Sip it sizzling hot. Enjoy that taste of tea which you will never be able to define in words - but only tongue and brain knows. You know it best when you feel it. Now travel all around India, drink tea from all the states. All the corners you stop, they will serve you a different version of tea. With flavors of cardamom or ginger maybe. In a spectrum of strength and blend they will serve. In different size and shapes of glasses they will serve it. You can decide, yet to call all of them ‘tea’, even when none of them were the same as the other (like your days on this planet). It comes down to you. But keep one thing unnegotiable - have tea. It keeps the stone rolling. It keeps your life moving forward.
The meaning for today was to write this article. Adding two quotes for fun.
