What is love?
Love is deep understanding followed by unconditional acceptance.
Nothing else. But “unconditional” clause will make even the first step disappear.
Oh dear human, only if we realised how difficult it is to understand a human being (ourselves or others) and too accept as it is.
മനസ്സിലാക്കുക
This is the word for understanding in Malayalam, my native language. It is pronounced “Manassil Aakkuka”. It is a two part word, which means “to take into heart or mind”.
Understanding is taking the other into your mind. INTO. Which technically means you literally feel like the other. Which is why I believe until the pain or discomfort of someone else make me take action, I haven’t understood them.
Real understanding is when you take the other to the heart - which means you are also stripped away from your inaction for the other.
What is unconditional love to yourself?
Imagine a child. And you as a parent. The child may do a lot of mischiefs and create a lot of nuisance. The child may do a lot of mistakes also just out of its ignorance. But if you are a parent you don’t selectively love the child. You don’t love the version of your child which is chubby and cute, and hat the version which created the chaos. You just love the child. Can you fell the same to yourself and love all your versions.
Yes, a blind love to yourself, with no say for what you do or do not do. You can make a million mistakes and still love yourself. It should not make a difference. Your mistakes should not cause the long term disappointment in yourself. It is difficult. You will have a lot of grey shades and selfish motives which drive you in every day life. Still you should accept your being as itself and as you are.
Love is expressed in freedom
Freedom is the biggest expression of love. Letting the other be other. That is freedom. Freedom comes with a big risk of doing blunders in life. But freedom is the epitome of expression of love - because it tears you down between your selfishness and your concepts against the other and still you let it.
